Q: Do you also offer a paper certificate of domain ownership?

Yes, we also offer physical domain certificates for gift or decorative purposes.

Customers regularly asked us for confirmation of domain ownership, which they could use not only for official matters. We therefore decided to create a system of certificates that are electronically signed and meet all the requirements for confirming domain ownership (and other statuses) on the date of issue.

Unlikepaper domain ownership certificates, which serve more decorative purposes, electronic certificates can be generated repeatedly and will always contain up-to-date information.

How electronic domain ownership certificates work

This is an additional service for domains registered with us. After activating the additional service, you can immediately issue a certificate in PDF format containing our recognized electronic signature. The electronic certificate can be downloaded from the customer administration or sent by email.

The domain ownership certificate contains the following information:

Domain name
Holder (owner)
Holder's address
Domain registration date
Domain expiration date
Registrar
Date of issue of the electronic certificate

If the additional service is active, the electronic domain ownership certificate can be regenerated at any time with a new date.

For which domains can a domain ownership certificate be purchased?

Currently, this applies to all domains we offer, and you can manage them in the customer administration section under Domains.

Can a domain ownership certificate be issued for a subdomain?

We do not record the owner of subdomains and have no way of verifying them. Our certificate system works with WHOIS, where subdomains are not recorded.
Given the conditions of the registry and how domains work, this would be very complicated.

Do you also offer a paper certificate of domain ownership?

Yes, we also offerphysical domain certificatesfor gift or decorative purposes.

Can I print out my electronic certificate?

Yes, but keep in mind that the electronic version is valid.

What is the validity period of the certificate?

The certificate confirms the status of the domain in the registry as of the current date and time. This information is permanent. Even if someone else owns the domain in 10 years, the certificate confirms that you were the owner at the time it was generated.

For which authority can I use the certificate?

The domain ownership certificate confirms the following statuses as of the date and time of generation:

Domain name
Holder (owner)
Holder's address
Domain registration date
Domain expiration date
Registrar
Certificate issue date

The certificate can be used for any authority that requires any of this domain information from you. Electronic certificates are signed with our recognized electronic signature, which we use, for example, for invoices.

Basically, this means that we (WEDOS Internet, a.s.) confirm and sign that the domain has the above information recorded in the WHOIS database as of the date and time specified.
