What is MAILHOSTING?
Every email you send or receive is actually like a file that needs a place to be stored. Mail hosting is a service that makes sure all your emails are safely stored and always available when you need them. It's like having your own email inbox, except it's under your own brand or name, such as tvojejmeno@tvojefirma.cz. Besides looking professional, you have full control over what your address will be.
Email hosting services run on our own cloud solution, built on opensource technologies (Postfix, Dovecot). The entire mailserver is designed as a "high-availability" solution, i.e. a system with high availability (99.9%) and minimal possibility of any downtime. The individual services (receiving, downloading, sending mail) are functionally independent of each other and fully redundant - so even in the event of a failure of one of the servers, there will be no outage and all services will remain functional.
Mailhosting runs on state-of-the-art HPE 3 PAR StoreServ Storage 8450 all-flash storage with robust IPS/IDS and DDoS protection, custom developed by our developers and engineers specifically for our services. Fast operation is ensured by 3.7 GHz processors.

Our customer administration allows you to conveniently change your service settings. Everything is fully automated - from ordering the service, billing, starting the service and changing parameters. The administration also includes advanced features that allow you, for example, to make the management of the mailserver service available to your programmer and still have full control over the service, billing, etc.
Since you do not need the assistance of our administrators to change the settings, any change can be entered into the system yourself and will be made immediately (if technically possible).
What does email on your own domain look like and what are the benefits of using it?
An email box on your own domain normally contains the company name after the email address - e.g. jmeno@nazevfirmy.com. On the other hand, a regular personal email usually has the name of the service for which the user operates the mailbox after the subject line - e.g. jmeno@gmail.com.

What is a spam filter and antivirus?
Antispam protection is based on the best solution currently available for spam detection. It evaluates emails against nearly five hundred parameters and uses "self-learning" algorithms to refine detection. These algorithms (machine learning) need large amounts of data to work well.
Since we are the largest mail hosting provider in the country, we have plenty of emails for the mailserver to learn from. In fact, 1 to 2 million emails pass through our mailservers every day. It is machine learning that enables antispam to filter spam and provide effective protection against it to the mailboxes.
Antivirus protection detects and removes malware that can spread via email, such as viruses, trojans, spyware and other types of malware. We effectively detect and block these malicious emails from reaching users' inboxes.
We scan links and email attachments for anything that could potentially put users at risk. If a threat is detected, the antivirus blocks the attachment or marks the email as potentially dangerous and warns the user.
Should I use webhosting or mailhosting for my needs?
If you only want to use email services, then mailhosting is ideal for you. There is no need to migrate your website or domain to WEDOS. All you will need is to set up our DNS servers or MX records. For these cases, we have prepared an automatic email migration script that will will help you easily convert your emails to WEDOS.
However, if you want to run your website with us as well, a more suitable option for you is web hosting. It automatically includes mail hosting with unlimited email boxes.

How to increase the space for emails?
Mailhosting has set the basic quota for emails to 5 GB.
If the customer needs more space than 5 GB, there is an additional service "5 GB email space increase", which can be ordered multiple times up to a maximum of 505 GB. However, we are currently preparing the possibility of a further increase, up to 1 TB. After that, depending on individual needs, we will be able to allow even further increases.
The additional service can be activated or resized in the customer administration in the mail hosting details.

Can I convert my existing email accounts to VEDOS?
Yes, we have prepared an automatic migration script for these cases, thanks to which you can convert your emails to VEDOS in a few clicks. Just fill in your IMAP server, email box and password and set up your DNS servers or DNS records. After that, your emails will be immediately served by our mailservers.
You can migrate your mailboxes to VEDOS in just a few clicks. You don't need to have your website or domain with us.
To migrate your mailboxes, all you need to know is your email address, password and IMAP server (if you don't know it, contact your provider to find out).

Step 3 - Successful email migration. You will be notified by email when the migration is complete, so please wait. Depending on your workload, the migration may take tens of minutes.
Step 4 - Final DNS change. After checking that everything is migrated and functional, you can proceed to the final change of DNS servers or DNS records and the email address will start working from VEDOS.

Do I need Thunderbird or Outlook to use my email?
No, you don't. We have a web-based Roundcube email client for managing your email inbox and accessing it from a web browser. You can find it at webmail.wedos.net, where you can log in with the email account created in the mailhosting details.
Our email servers support IMAP, POP3 and SMTP protocols in their basic settings, so there is no problem with configuring well-known third-party mail clients such as Apple Mail, Thunderbird or Outlook.
