Normal monitoring of website availability is not enough

Only a small proportion of customers monitor their website availability using online monitoring tools. According to our measurements, less than one tenth of one percent of all clients do so. They choose one site and it is monitored by an automated robot at regular intervals. If it detects that a page is unavailable, it sends an email or SMS alert. But is that enough? No way!

The internet is a dangerous place full of cyber pitfalls

Organised groups are always looking for opportunities to make money. We know this ourselves. Every month, we have to deal with dozens and sometimes hundreds of cases with specialised cybercrime units, the police, the authorities and sometimes even counter-terrorism organisations. Most of our customers who run into these problems don't even know it. It's their website, server or emails that are becoming part of the perpetration of crime on their behalf.

EWM uses several tools that can detect site or domain manipulation. It also monitors your website for dangerous content.

Deliberately think about what all is tied to your online business?

• It's definitely a website, but it not only needs to be accessible, it also needs to display your content page correctly. This is where most monitoring ends and ours begins.
• The functionality of a website depends on many circumstances (domain, DNS, DNSSEC, hosting, content management system...).
• What about a certificate for HTTPS? Is it about to expire? If it expires, browsers may not allow users to access your site. Or a badly generated certificate will only be accepted by some browsers (maybe yours, and thus you'll never notice it) and maybe search engines won't get to your site.
• These are the emails through which you communicate with your customers.
• You're not blacklisted? Both web and e-mail.
• Is someone stealing your domain and not changing the owner or DNS records?
• Are the DNS servers working fast enough? Do you have DNSSEC in order? Are all DNS servers returning the same records?
• We'll alert you to slow scripts or even a higher number of 404 errors.
• We will even warn you that your website needs to be optimized because you have improperly handled redirects from http to https or from www to no www. These are common mistakes that burden the website, slow down pages, discourage customers and thus reduce your efforts to succeed...
• We will perform a security scan of your website to make sure it is not dangerous for visitors.
• We will keep an eye out for free domains in different TLDs than yours.
